I set out to investigate the limitations and capabilities of PHP, learn introductory PHP 5 and MySQL 5, complete a web design brief, and evaluate the process. The Radio Society website is the end result.
The learning process was as you’d expect one of the hardest parts of the contract, where I really had to motivate myself at times and found some things really difficult to get my head around. For the majority of this part, I used, as planned, a Sitepoint book.
I do feel that I learnt a lot, I’m no PHP expert, but I built what I think is a good database driven website [for a beginner]; including a login/register function, password access control, validating contact form, file upload, multiple forms, and have a solid base on which to keep building up my knowledge.
